Top Argentine Horseman Hernan Ceriani Dies One of the pioneers of Argentina's Thoroughbred industry, Mr. Ceriani was one of the originators of Argentina's equivalent of the Breeders' Cup. Haras La Quebrada, which he founded, has been home to such stallions as Southern Halo and Mutakddim. The farm is the breeder of over 170 grade I winners. Hill 'n' Dale Farms' owner John Sikura remarked, "I enjoyed a great personal and professional relationship with Mr. Ceriani. His belief that Mutakddim could be a leading sire in Argentina was realized under his great care. He was not only a world class horseman, but he was a complete gentleman with the utmost of integrity. The industry has lost a great visionary."
