Around the Cape, a New York graded course-record setter, will enter stud and Joe and Anne McMahon's McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds near Saratoga Springs, N.Y. A 5-year-old son of Carson City, he will stand for $6,000 live foal.

Around the Cape won or placed in a dozen of 16 races. At Belmont Park at six furlongs in 2006, he set a course record of 1:07.31 in the Jaipur Stakes (gr. IIIT) and took the Lure Stakes in 1:08.75.

As a 3-year-old in 2005, he ran second to Lost in the Fog in the Swale Stakes (gr. II) at Gulfstream Park.

Around the Cape retired with six wins and earnings of $307,649 for Charlotte Weber's Live Oak Plantation and trainer Bill Mott. His other stakes-placings include a runner-up effort in the Shakertown Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Keeneland.

Bred in Kentucky by Betz Farm, William Werner, Steve Humphreys, and Needham/Betz Thoroughbreds, Around the Cape is out of stakes-winning Alzao mare Song of Africa, who is a half-sister to two stakes winners, including graded winner Intensive Command. Live Oak bought him for $290,000 at the 2003 Saratoga yearling sale.
