Edited press release

Empire Racing Associates will hold its first Town Hall meeting on the “Future of Racing in New York State” Jan. 17 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Empire Racing officials will make a short presentation and then solicit input and discussion from participants on their concerns and their ideas for revitalizing racing in the state.

Empire Racing, in its bid to win the franchise to operate Aqueduct, Belmont Park, and Saratoga, finished behind Excelsior Racing Associates and ahead of the New York Racing Association in scoring by the state Ad Hoc Committee on the Future of Racing. The panel recommended Excelsior Racing but the governor and state legislature will ultimately decide.

Empire Racing is the sole racing franchise bidder with headquarters in the Capital Region, where Saratoga is located. The Town Hall meeting will be held from 7-9 p.m. EST at the Holiday Inn at 232 Broadway.
