Scott, who served as manager of Kinsman from 1981-1989, is excited about the plans he and the Steinbrenner family have for the 750-acre farm.
"The training division is really strong â€" we have some beautiful horses in training," said Scott, noting the leadership of Kinsman's farm trainer Juan Rodriguez. "So I'm going to concentrate on the broodmare division, and we'd like to add some stallions in the future. We have a beautiful stallion barn, just an outstanding facility."
Scott will also be looking to add both quality and quantity to the 40-member broodmare band at Kinsman, a group that already includes retired homebred graded stakes winners Ebony Breeze and Crystal Symphony.
"They want to win the (Kentucky) Derby," said Scott of the ownership/management team that also includes Steinbrenner's son, Hank, and daughter, Jessica.
Sexton declined to discuss his exit from Kinsman, which he joined in 2004 as the farm's trainer. He is known for his part in the development of Kinsman Stable's grade-I winner, Bellamy Road.
"I am very proud of the work I did there," he said.
Sexton, whose family owns Rathmuck Stud in Kildare County, Ireland, said he is contemplating several ventures, including launching a career as a bloodstock agent. He also owns a small farm located just a short distance from Kinsman.
In addition to Kinsman, Scott has managed some of the Ocala area's most prominent farms, including Eclipse Award-winning Farnsworth Farms, and the Franks Farm Southland Division of the late multiple Eclipse Award winner, John Franks.
Scott also formerly owned and operated Liberty Stud in Ghent, N.Y., and most recently worked with the former Jubilee Farm in Citra, Fla. He also recently ended his association with Trish Pronto's Ocala-area boarding and training operation, Southpaw Stables.
