(Edited press release)
A record crowd attended the third annual Blue Grass Farms Chaplaincy Christmas Party hosted by the BGFC Ladies Guild Dec. 19.
More than 300 adults and 225 children attended the event at the Thoroughbred Center. Guests were greeted by Ladies Guild members passing out candy and school supplies for all school-aged children.
A catered meal was provided along with a ham and Christmas basket for each household. Each child received a new age-appropriate gift, with teens receiving a $20 gift card. A band performed Christmas music.
Major sponsors for the event included: BGFC Ladies Guild/Nags, Bags and Rags; Ashford Stud; Joli Salon and Day Spa; Impact Graphics; Wendi and David Foley; Valkyre Stud; Forging Oaks Farm; Fasig-Tipton; Equivision; Winstar; Hill 'n' Dale Farm; True North Farm; Rood and Riddle and The Blood-Horse. Many other farms, businesses and individuals also contributed money to purchase toys and food.
Ladies guild director Mary Lee-Butte said the event was "a huge success and shows how much the farm workers are appreciated and cared about. The support from the Thoroughbred community tells us to keep doing what we do best--sharing love and hope."
