The California Horse Racing Board has filed complaints against trainers Art Sherman and Wesley Ward for medication violations.
The CHRB issues a weekly update of complaints, accusations, stewards rulings, and board decisions involving Class 1, 2, and 3 medication violations and other significant matters.
In the case of Sherman, the Maddy Laboratory at the University of California-Davis reported that Brahma Bull, a horse trained by Sherman, exceeded the regulatory threshold of 37.0mm1/1 for total carbon dioxide. Brahma Bull finished second in the fourth race at Bay Meadows Dec. 2, 2006.
A TCO2 violation is considered Class III. A hearing has not been scheduled.
As for Ward, the Maddy Laboratory reported that a horse in his care, Denaesalildevil, contained phentermine and its metabolite, hydroxyphentermine. Industrial Laboratories tested the split sample and confirmed the original finding. Denaesalildevil won the 11th race at the Alameda County Fair July 1, 2006.
This violation is considered Class II offense.
A hearing has not been scheduled.
