Ivan Denisovich, an English group II winner by Danehill, has been retired for stallion duty to John Magnier and partners' Coolmore Stud in Ireland.

As a 2-year-old last year, Ivan Denisovich won the TNT July Stakes (Eng-II) and ran second in the Darley Prix Morny (Fr-I). This year, he won the Laing O'Rourke Solonaway Stakes and placed in the St. James Palace Stakes (Eng-I), Secretariat Stakes (gr. IT), and the Nov. 26 Hollywood Derby (gr. IT), which was his final start.

Bred in Ireland by Irving Cowan, 3-year-old Ivan Denisovich not only is a half-brother to Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) winner and Kentucky sire War Chant  , but his grandsire, Danzig, is War Chant's sire.

Ivan Denisovich retired with three wins from 14 races and earnings of $437,675 for Irving and Marjorie Cowan, Sue Magnier, and Michael Tabor.

A half-brother to two other stakes winners, Ivan Denisovich is out of the champion Kris S. mare Hollywood Wildcat.

His fee is €9,000 (about $11,900).
