Skehan joined CDI in April 1999 as senior vice president of sales and marketing and was elevated to the top operating post in August 2004. Among his areas of responsibility were CDI's live and off-track betting operations, as well as the Churchill Downs Simulcast Network and the corporate sales, marketing, community relations and graphic services departments. He also spearheaded the company's Customer Relationship Management program. Previous to joining CDI, Skehan was an executive with the Nabisco Corporation, PepsiCo Inc., and KFC International.
On Dec. 1, CDI announced the elimination of 22 positions, which was 30% of the company's full-time corporate workforce, in a variety of departments.
At the time, CDI president and chief executive officer Robert L. Evans said in a news release that the restructuring, which includes a reorganization of the corporate marketing function, "ensures the corporate team is strategically aligned and ready to execute on new business opportunities."
Consistent with its policy of not commenting on personnel matters, CDI did not release a list of individuals or positions eliminated in the restructuring.
