The Fasig-Tipton Saratoga selected yearling sales will be held Aug. 6-7, bringing the sessions forward by one night as compared to years past."As the oldest yearling sale in North America, Saratoga has seen and prospered through several date and format changes," said Fasig-Tipton president Walt Robertson."In an environment where fewer out-of-state visitors can stay in Saratoga for an extended period, we saw an opportunity to streamline the sales schedule for buyers and sellers alike. We will be looking to offer the same number of yearlings, or more, in these two nights."The date change will also allow Fasig-Tipton to move up by one night the New York-bred selected yearling sale, which will now be held Aug. 10-11. An open yearling sale, Aug. 14 will conclude the Saratoga schedule.
Prospective buyers, consignors, and Fasig-Tipton officials were cautiously optimistic prior to the Saratoga select yearling sale's starte even though the stock market and the Thoroughbred marketplace in general have lost momentum lately.
