Daylami, whose international championships include an Eclipse Award as top grass male in 1999, has been sold to South African interests. The 12-year-old Irish-bred stallion will stand at Altus Joubert's Riethuiskrael Stud. Joubert is chairman of the South African Thoroughbred Breeders' Association.
The best of Dayami's seven stakes winners is millionaire Grey Swallow. A two-time Irish champion, Grey Swallow scored group I wins in the Budweiser Irish Derby and Tattersalls Gold Cup and was a grade II winner in the U.S., taking the Jim Murray Memorial Handicap on grass. Daylami also has sired 13 stakes-placed runners.
Daylami (Doyoun--Daltawa, by Miswaki) formerly stood at the Aga Khan's Gilltown Stud in Ireland as the joint property of the Aga Khan and Sheikh Mohammed's Darley operation. His 2006 fee was €25,000 (approximately $32,800).
