A full field of 10 juveniles was entered Tuesday for Friday's running of the $1-million Boyd Gaming Delta Jackpot Stakes at Delta Downs Racetrack Casino & Hotel in Vinton, La.
This is the fourth overall running of the race, which began in 2002, and it has grade III status for the first time. The 2005 edition of the Jackpot was cancelled due to damage the track sustained from Hurricane Rita.
The Delta Jackpot is a 1 1/16-mile test for 2-year-olds and will
be carded as race eight on Friday's program.
This year's Jackpot field includes a pair of previous graded stakes
winners. They are Xchanger, who scored a victory in the grade III $150,000 Sapling Stakes at Monmouth Park on Sept. 4, and Officer Rocket, who dead-heated for the win with Got the Last Laugh in the grade III $200,000 Arlington Washington Breeders' Futurity at Arlington Park on Sept. 10.
The highest earner coming into this year's Jackpot is the only horse in the field to ever race at Delta Downs, Go Poppa Fooze. The Kentucky-bred chestnut scored a nine-length victory in the $150,000 Jean Lafitte Stakes at Delta Downs on Nov. 3 in preparation for Friday's trip. Go Poppa Fooze is owned by Dream Walkin Farms, Inc. of country music superstar Toby Keith.
The complete field for the Delta Jackpot:Post position, jockey, morning line odds:

Delta Downs will also host four other added-money races on the
Jackpot program. They include Boyd Gaming's $300,000 Delta Princess Stakes for freshman fillies, the $100,000 Sam's Town Stakes for older horses, the $100,000 Treasure Chest for 3-year-old and older fillies and mares, and the $50,000 Zydeco Stakes for 3-year-olds.
The Delta Princess field drew seven fillies including two previous
grade I winners, Meadow Breeze and Appealing Zophie. Meadow Breeze scored a 34-1 upset in this year's $250,000 Matron Stakes at Belmont Park on Sept. 23. Appealing Zophie tallied a victory in the $250,000 Spinaway Stakes at Saratoga Race Course on Sept. 3.
