Grade I winner Summerly, a 2005 Eclipse Award finalist, has arrived at Bill Casner and Kenny Troutt's WinStar Farm near Versailles, Ky., to become a broodmare. She is booked to WinStar stallion Distorted Humor.A 4-year-old daughter of Summer Squall, Summerly won six of 14 races and earned $907,652. She was at her best in 2005 when she won the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I), Fair Grounds Oaks (gr. II), and Silverbulletday Stakes (gr. I) and placed in the Coaching Club American Oaks (gr. I) and Mother Goose Stakes (gr. I). She finished third in Eclipse Award balloting for best 3-year-old filly.Summerly, who won this year's Ashado Stakes, finished fourth in the Nov. 23 Falls City Handicap (gr. II) at Churchill Downs in her final race."She came out of the race fine," said WinStar racing manager Elliott Walden. "She didn't break sharply and that cost her early positioning and comprised her running style."WinStar bought Summerly for $3.3 million at the Nov. 5 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky November mixed sale from Eaton Sales, agent. The price was the second-highest at the sale.Summerly, who was bred in Kentucky by Tom Van Meter and Michael Lowenbaum, previously had raced for Winchell Thoroughbreds. Summerly is out of graded stakes-placed Here I Go (by Mr. Prospector).
