American Runners Among Second Group of Vodafone Derby Entries

Two American runners are among eight extra entries for the 2001 Vodafone Derby, which will be contested at Epsom on Saturday, June 9. Tiger Trap, from Neil Drysdale's California stable, and River God, representing Richard Mandella highlight the additions list.

Tiger Trap, who was bought out of Aidan O'Brien's stable last autumn, won his last two starts at Santa Anita this season, while River God took an allowance race at the same track on March 1.
The last American-trained runner in the Vodafone Derby was Wolf Prince, saddled by Michael Dickinson, who finished eighth in 1993. The previous American challenger was Slewpy, who came 18th in 1983.

Other additional entries for the £1 million premier classic are the unraced Henry Cecil-trained Arabie. Godolphin's pair Celtic Silence and Atlantis Prince, who both showed high-class juvenile form, Lingfield maiden winner Asian Heights, trained by Geoff Wragg, Gryffindor, a wide-margin winner at Doncaster's Lincoln meeting for Brian Meehan, and Galway maiden winner Cashel Bay, who represents Co Meath permit holder Luke Comer.
