Lone Thanksgiving Day triumph moves jockey Russell Baze within six wins of the record.
Jockey Russell Baze moved one win closer to Laffit Pincay Jr.'s record for lifetime victories during the Thanksgiving Day program at Bay Meadows on Nov. 23.

Baze recorded his 9,524th victory aboard 4-5 favorite Power by Jules ($3.60) in the first race on the card – his eighth win in the past 12 mounts – but was blanked in five subsequent rides. The Jerry Hollendorfer-trained Power by Jules won by 4 1/2 lengths, moving Baze to within six of Pincay's mark of 9,530.

The 48-year-old Baze also turned in a second place finish astride 9-10 choice Steppin Out Rose in the sixth race and was third aboard 13-10 elect M L's Indian in the eighth race nightcap. He finished off the board on Rage Till Dawn in the fourth race, Sparky's At Five in the fifth and Dell Place in the seventh.

He is scheduled on three mounts on Friday, seven on Saturday and six more Sunday, all at Bay Meadows.
