Speakers Named for Blog Panel at Symposium on Racing and Gaming

The University of Arizona Race Track Industry Program has announced speakers for the Symposium on Racing & Gaming panel entitled "The Blog: New Media Monster?" scheduled for the morning of Dec. 7.
The panel will take both an academic and practical look at the subject. The session, led by moderator Bob Wolff, vice president of public relations at Robert Brandt & Associates, includes: Dr. Nora Ganim Barnes, chancellor professor of marketing at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth; Stephen Dittmore, assistant professor, sports management department at East Stroudsburg University; and David Rubin, blogger, Your Average Horseplayer.
Dr. Barnes will discuss her latest research on blogs and bloggers, Dittmore looks at what other sports are doing to use blogs to their advantage, and Rubin will present his views as a blogger and how he sees it helping racing.
The Symposium, held Dec. 4-7 at its new location, the Westin La Paloma Resort in Tucson, Ariz., will feature panelists from around the world discussing the pari-mutuel and racino industries.
