The Indiana Horse Racing Commission has unanimously approved a 2007 racing calendar for the state's Thoroughbred horsemen that offers 109 dates at Indiana Downs and Hoosier Park.

Indiana Downs will conduct a 48-day meet in the spring, while Hoosier Park will offer 61 dates in the fall. A total of 110 days were awarded between both tracks for 2006.

Indiana Downs will race April 27-July 3. First post on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays is slated for 4:55 p.m., while Friday and Saturday programs will begin at 6:55 p.m. This season, the track opened its 49-day meet nearly a week earlier on April 21 and concluded June 28.

Hoosier Park's 61-day meet will kick off in its traditional Labor Day weekend spot--Sept. 1--and end Nov. 24. Live racing will be offered Wednesday through Sunday each week. The track is currently in the midst of a 61-day meet.

In order to operate satellite wagering facilities in the state, each track must conduct a minimum of 120 days of live racing. Indiana Downs also asked for, and was granted, an 82-day harness meet. Hoosier Park will conduct 61 harness programs next spring.
