War Front Retired to Claiborne

War Front, a grade II sprint winner at Saratoga this year, has been retired from racing and will enter stud at the Hancock family's Claiborne Farm near Paris, Ky. His fee is $12,500 live foal.
A 4-year-old son of Danzig, War Front posted triple digit Beyer Speed Figures in all six of his on-the-board finishes this year, including a 114 when he came within a neck of winning the Tom Fool Handicap (gr. II) in a runner-up performance at Belmont Park. War Front won this year's Alfred G. Vanderbilt Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. II) at Saratoga and ran second in the Vosburgh (gr. I) and Forego (gr. I) Stakes and the Mr. Prospector (gr. III) and Deputy Minister (gr. III) Handicaps.
Last year, War Front won the Princelet Stakes at Belmont by eight lengths.
War Front, who was foaled and raised at Claiborne, retired with four wins from 13 races and earnings of $424,205. He finished unplaced in the Nov. 4 TVG Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I) in his final race.
War Front is a half-brother to graded stakes winners Ecclesiastic and Teammate and is out of the multiple stakes-winning Rubiano mare Starry Dreamer.Claiborne bought the breeding rights in War Front from breeder/owner Joe Allen this fall.
