Nathan Fox, president and co-owner of Richland Hills near Midway, Ky, has acquired the breeding rights of graded stakes winner and classic-placed Andromeda's Hero from his owner Robert V. LaPenta. The 4-year-old son of Fusaichi Pegasus out of the multiple stakes producer Marozia (by Storm Bird) will continue to race for LaPenta until his retirement to Richland Hills.Andromeda's Hero has won or placed in 10 stakes. He captured last year's Fred W. Hooper Handicap (gr. III) and Sam F. Davis Stakes and ran second in the Belmont Stakes (gr. I). This year, he has placed in five stakes, including the Jockey Club Gold Cup (gr. I) and Donn (gr. I) and Suburban (gr. I) Handicaps. His career earnings are $831,241.Andromeda's Hero will be the first stallion to retire to the new Richland Hills. Richland Hills was founded by Fox in 1984 as Wafare Farm."Andromeda's Hero is a very impressive individual with a beautiful pedigree that should appeal to most breeders," Fox said. "He has been an incredibly sound racehorse that has demonstrated his ability to compete at the very top level of competition at a variety of distances over the past three years, and he should provide the much needed elements of soundness and stamina to his foals."A stud fee will be announced following his final race.
