Holy Ground, a stakes-winning half-brother to Barbaro, has been retired from racing by breeder/owners Roy and Gretchen Jackson. Breeding plans for the 4-year-old son of Saint Ballado are undecided.

In his sole start as a 2-year-old, Holy Ground won by 8 1/2 lengths. At 3, he won the Stanton Stakes by 13 1/4 lengths at Delaware Park and was third to winner English Channel in the Woodlawn Stakes on grass. Holy Ground also placed in that year's Mel's Hope Stakes on turf, but injured his suspensory ligament during the race.

Holy Ground, who was produced from the grade II stakes-placed Carson City mare La Ville Rouge, won three of nine races and earned $98,280 for the Jacksons' Lael Stables and trainer Michael Matz, the same combination that won this year's Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands with Barbaro.
