Vartanian Accused of Methamphetamine Violation

(from CHRB release)The California Horse Racing Board has filed an accusation against trainer Gregory Vartanian for several rule violations after a horse in his care tested positive for the Class 1 prohibited substance methamphetamine in the post-race urine sample.

The Maddy Laboratory at the University of California at Davis, the CHRB's official laboratory, reported the findings, while Pennsylvania Equine Toxicology and Research Laboratory, the split sample laboratory selected by the licensee, confirmed the Maddy Lab results. A hearing has not been scheduled.
