Sunday Break Moving to Walmac for 2007

The grade II-winning and classic-placed Sunday Break will stand the 2007 season at Robert Trussell and John T.L. Jones III's Walmac Farm near Lexington, it was announced Friday.

The Japan-bred son of Forty Niner will stand for a fee of $7,500 live foal, due Nov. 15.

A half-brother to Japanese champion 3-year-old filly and older female Phalaenospis, Sunday Break is out of the Storm Cat mare Catequil. Having stood at Gainesway Farm in 2004-06, Sunday Break's first foals are yearlings of 2006. A colt from his first crop sold at the Keeneland September yearling sale for $500,000.

"Sunday Break will be a real asset to our stallion program," Jones said in a release. "We all know how good a sire Forty Niner is. Sunday Break showed a world of talent on the track, was well supported in the breeding shed, and has already thrown a home-run horse in the sales ring. In addition, he has a similar breeding cross as Distorted Humor  , who stands for $225,000."

Sunday Break won four of 13 starts and earned $451,220. At 3 he won the Peter Pan Stakes (gr. II) and ran third in the Belmont and the Wood Memorial Stakes (both gr. I).

Sunday Break is owned by a partnership of Dennis Narlinger, Becky Thomas, and Bill Heiligbrodt.
