The Kentucky-bred filly, Flashy White, was consigned by Paramount Sales, agent, and purchased by L & D Farms for $250,000.

For the three-day sale, Fasig-Tipton reported 635 head sold for $9,747,000. The average was $15,350 and the median $7,500, with 287 hips failing to sell.

Compared to last year, the gross was down 12% and the average decreased 16%. The number of horses failing to meet their reserves rose from 29% last year to 31% this year.

In 2005, the sale grossed $11,099,100. The average was $18,195 and the median $8,500, with 246 horses failing to sell.

"The bottom of the market was just a little lower this year than it was last year, and those horses were tougher to sell," said Walt Robertson, Fasig-Tipton president. "Last year it helped that we had the benefit of one big horse ($600,000 son of Distorted Humor   purchased by Jess Jackson's Stonestreet Stables from the consignment of James Keogh, agent) and that really helped. But overall, I couldn't see a difference in the nice horses we had last year compared to this year."

For the third session, 204 horses sold for $2,948,300. The average was $14,452 and the median $6,500, with 99 horses failing to meet their reserves.

Last year's third session saw 207 horses sold for $3,376,000. The average was $16,309 and the median $8,000, with 81 horses failing to find new homes.

Beechglen Farms bred Flashy White from the stakes-winning Easy Goer mare Sheepscot, who also produced grade II stakes winner Naveskink River. The filly is from the family of grade I stakes winner and sire Vicar.
