Distant View, an English champion and a successful sire for Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms, has been pensioned at the Lexington farm because of veterinary advice. The 15-year-old homebred son of Mr. Prospector has sired 16 stakes winners.

A Kentucky-bred, Distant View was England's high-weighted 3-year-old miler in 1994 after winning the Sussex Stakes (Eng-I) over the older Barathea and running second in the St. James's Palace Stakes (Eng-I). He was sent to the U.S. to contest that year's Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) at Churchill Downs, but was no match for Barathea and finished seventh.

Juddmonte certainly reaped the benefits of standing Distant View. English champion and French group I winner Observatory raced as a Juddmonte homebred before ending up at stud at Juddmonte's Banstead Manor Stud in England. Distant View also sired major Juddmonte homebred winners Decarchy  , Distant Music, and Sightseek. The last-named won seven grade I stakes and earned $2.4 million before becoming a broodmare at the Lexington nursery.

Distant View's other stakes winners include 2006 Italian group I winner Distant Way. Distant View is out of the Irish River mare Seven Springs.
