Jockey Eddie Delahoussaye completed a sweep of the two stakes races at Santa Anita Sunday when he piloted 9-10 favorite Go Go to a two-length win in the $109,500 Las Cienegas (gr. IIIT). Earlier on the card, the veteran rider guided 3-year-old Trailthefox to a one-length win as the 3-5 favorite in the $105,800 Zany Tactics Stakes.
Go Go started slow and rallied to catch pacesetting Seperata in deep stretch in the about 6 1/2 furlong Las Cienegas, stopping the timer in 1:13.54 on a good turf course.
"She didn't break well at all, but I just left her alone," said Delahoussaye. "The turf's a little soft and speed's not holding that much. I just figured that she's got enough heart and would pick 'em all up, and she did."
"I thought she might be last down (the hill) -- she broke bad and I thought that maybe she didn't like the track or something -- but Eddie (Delahoussaye) is the greatest," said winning trainer Warren Stute.
Separata held second, 1 ½ lengths ahead of Dianehill. Al Desima came home fourth, followed by Penny Marie, Nanogram, Southern House, and Brite Girl.
Go Go (Falstaff - Key Mist, by Plugged Nickle) is a 4-year-old filly bred in California by Chris Ray. She earned $65,700 for owner Thomas and Thomas Stable with the win, her sixth in 12 starts. Go Go's four-race winning streak was snapped in her most recent race prior to the Las Cienegas, a runner-up finish to La Feminn in the restricted Irish O'Brien Stakes. Prior to that she won the Las Flores Handicap (gr. III), the restricted Survive Stakes, an allowance race, and an optional claimer.
Go Go returned $3.80, $2.60, and $2.40. Separata paid $3.40 and $3 and completed a $1 exacta worth $8.20. Dianehill was worth $4.20 to show. (Chart, Equibase
