War Front, a grade II winner and twice grade I-placed this year, will enter stud at the Hancock family's Claiborne Farm near Paris, Ky. Plans call for the 4-year-old son of Danzig to close out his career in the Nov. 4 TVG Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I).
War Front, who races as a homebred for Joseph Allen, won this year's Alfred G. Vanderbilt Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. II), with Mass Media third, and finished just a neck behind defending Breeders' Cup Sprint winner Silver Train in the Tom Fool Handicap (gr. II) while recording a 114 Beyer Speed Figure. He also has run second in this year's Forego (gr. I) and Vosburgh (gr. I) Stakes and the Mr. Prospector (gr. III) and Deputy Minister (gr. III) Handicaps.
As a 3-year-old, War Front won three consecutive races in New York, starting with a maiden win by 11 1/2 lengths at Saratoga and concluding with a triumph in the Princelet Stakes by eight lengths. He has won or placed in 10 of 12 races and earned $424,205.
War Front is a half-brother to graded stakes winners Ecclesiastic and Teammate and is out of the multiple stakes winner Starry Dreamer (by Rubiano).
Claiborne, which purchased the breeding rights in War Front from Allen, will announce a fee later.
