Funny Cide headlines the New York Showcase Fall Festival, a two-day fest at Belmont Park designed to celebrate the Empire State with top New York-bred racing and an array of products and services native to the state. It will take place Oct. 21-22.
The 2003 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes (both gr. I) winner is slated to compete in the $250,000 Empire Classic. The Oct. 21 race card will feature seven stakes races with combined purses of more than $1 million, devoted solely to New York-bred horses.
Both Oct. 21 and 22 will include a mix of foods and attractions located underneath the grandstand, offering fans a chance to sample the best from local and statewide agricultural markets, arts and crafts shops, and other enterprises.
The New York Showcase Fall Festival is sponsored by the New York Racing Association, the New York Lottery, New York Thoroughbred Breeders, the New York Breeding & Racing Program, and I Love NY.
