Centaur Farms' Adhrhythm took the lead entering the far turn and drew off for a facile 4 3/4-length victory in the $400,000 My Dear Girl Division of the Florida Stallion Stakes Saturday at Calder Race Course.
Adhrhythm covered the 1 1/16-mile distance for 2-year-old fillies who are progeny of Florida stallions in 1:48.48.
The daughter of Adhocracy is trained by Eddie Plesa Jr. and was piloted by Manoel Cruz. The My Deal Girl was the 10th victory in FSS action for Plesa and the ninth for Cruz, who had ridden the winners in four of the five races contested so far in this year's series.
"I never really had any question about her ability to go a distance," Plesa said. "She was up there on the lead, but they weren't going that fast and Manoel knew what he had. I'm very pleased with the way she ran and (third-place finisher) Snow Lady, too."
Adhrhythm broke her maiden by 6 ¾ lengths Aug. 12 and followed that score with a dominating 8 ½-length tally in the Susan's Girl Division of the FSS last month. The $240,000 winner's share in the My Dear Girl nearly tripled her bankroll to $361,830 while her record improved to three wins and two seconds in just five trips to the post.
Silkily finished second for the fourth straight time, 2 ¼ lengths clear of Snow Lady, who won the FSS first leg, the $150,000 Desert Vixen, on Aug. 5.
"After a half a mile, I had to leave her alone and let her go," Cruz said. "We were going slow (on the first turn) and, when I was three wide, I kept a hold to see what they were going to do. Then I dropped her head and let her go."
Adhrhythm, the fifth favorite to score in the first seven stakes on the Festival of the Sun card, paid $3.60, $2.20, and $2.10. Silkily paid $2.80 and $2.40. Snow Lady paid $2.80.
