Park Stud has announced that the Phipps family bred and raced Survivalist, a 4-year-old graded stakes-winning son of Danzig, out of a full sister to Seeking the Gold
, will enter stud at Park Stud in Ontario, Canada.
Survivalist won the mile Gotham Stakes (gr. III) at Aqueduct and was first or second in 10 of 15 career starts, including the Wood Memorial Stakes (gr. I) in a runner-up finish.
Survivalist broke his maiden as a 2-year-old at Belmont by 8 1/2 lengths. This year, he won the R. R. M. Carpenter Jr. Memorial Handicap and was second in the Philip H. Iselin Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. III). He earned a total of $478,920.
"Danzig is the sire of nearly 200 stakes winners and an exceptional sire of sires, including Danehill and Langfuhr
among many others," said Mike Byrne, owner of Park Stud. "We are fortunate and delighted to have a horse of this caliber coming to Park Stud. With his pedigree, race record and looks, we expect him to be extremely popular."
Survivalist's dam, Miner's Game (by Mr. Prospector), not only is a full sister to Seeking the Gold, but a half-sister to graded winners Fast Play
and Stacked Pack.
A fee will be announced later.
