Day Three Gross, Average Fall at Tattersalls October Sale

Trade on day three of Tattersalls' October yearling sale in England failed to match the 2005 levels when the turnover of 12,308,000 guineas fell 24% and the average price of 109,893 guineas dipped by 12%. The median price of 77,500 guineas was up 3%.
John Ferguson paid the top price of 550,000 guineas Thursday to purchase a first-crop Oasis Dream colt out of Side of Paradise (by Sadler's Wells) on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed. Kilfrush Stud consigned the colt. Trainer Charles Egerton was the underbidder.
Ferguson had earlier gone to 320,000 guineas to purchase a son of Pivotal out of Pure Spin (by Machiavellian) consigned from Airlie Stud.
Demi O'Byrne, buying for the Coolmore partnership paid 500,000 guineas for a Montjeu -- Run to Jane colt that was offered from Denis Brosnan's Croom House Stud and had been bought for 300,000 euros as a foal at Goffs in November. Agent Grant Pritchard-Gordon was the underbidder.
A Gone West
colt out of Royal Alchemist (by Royal Academy), a half-sister to grade I winner Fire The Groom, was bought for 320,000 guineas by agent Amanda Skiffington on behalf of owner Duncan Davidson and will go into training with James Fanshawe.
The sale concludes Friday with a session starting at midday.
