Breeders' Cup Winner Val Royal to National Stud

Val Royal, winner of the 2001 Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT), will stand in 2007 at the National Stud near Newmarket, England. His fee will be £6,500.

A 10-year-old millionaire son of Royal Academy, Val Royal holds the record for the fastest Breeders' Cup Mile, a 1:32.05, set at Belmont Park. He also won two grade II grass stakes and was a group II winner in France.

Val Royal, who is owned by James Atkinson, formerly was based at Oak Lodge Stud in Ireland. He is the sire of English group II-placed Cockney Rebel as well as several winners and is out of the stakes-placed Bikala mare Vadlava.
