Magna Entertainment chairman Frank Stronach has lent his name to and invested in an energy drink that is bottled and sold by an Austrian company.

According to the Globe and Mail newspaper, Frank's Energy Drink is being imported into Canada by MCP Holding GmbH, with the MCP standing for Magna Consumer Products. The newspaper reported MCP Holding is a new venture, with Frank's Energy Drink its first product.

Stronach said he was apprehensive when approached by two Austrian entrepreneurs about lending his name to the drink, which contains 80 milligrams of caffeine and 1,000 grams of taurine, a naturally occurring amino acid, according to the newspaper.

"I said, 'You guys gotta be crazy, I don't want a drink named after me," Stronach told the Globe and Mail. "Finally I sort of gave in and said, 'Yeah, you can use my name'." Stronach said he also invested a couple of hundred thousand dollars in the drink company that also sells a bottled water in Austria called Magna Via.

While he has lent his name and money to the drink, Stronach was non-committal when asked whether he drinks it. "Ask me that in 70 years," the 74-year-old Stronach said.
