Racing & Gaming Symposium Agenda Announced

The University of Arizona Race Track Industry Program has announced its agenda for the 2006 Symposium on Racing & Gaming to be held Dec. 4-7 at the Westin La Paloma Resort in Tucson.
For the second consecutive year, the panels and meetings will be held on a Tuesday-through-Thursday schedule. Before last year, panels were held Wednesday through Friday.
The Dec. 5 sessions are "A New Perspective: How Casino Operators Would Run Racing"; "How to Grow in a Developed Market or How to Steal the Other Guy's Customer"; "Wagering Integrity--Who Cares?"; a workshop for racing secretaries; a meeting and workshop for breed associations; a keynote luncheon; "Changing the Menu"; "Equine Career Counseling"; "Technology Needs at a Racino"; "Conditions and Conditioners"; and "Racing Industry Updates and Initiatives."
The Dec. 6 sessions are "Marketing to Ethnic Players at Racinos"; Modern Day and Future Tote Issues, Part I--An International Perspective"; "Event Marketing--Is It Worth It?"; "Modern Day and Future Tote Issues, Part II--Domestic View"; "Slot Floor Design and Machine Selection"; and the Turf Publicists of America Mark Kaufman Workshop, "Communicating the Story of an Equine Injury."
The Dec. 7 sessions are "The Blog--New Media Monster"; Race Track Industry Program reports; "Build It and They Will Come--or Will They?"; "Safe and Sound"; "Regulatory Reform for a Changing Environment"; "Marketing 101--Developing a Marketing Plan That Works"; "Medication, Doping and the Level Playing Field"; and "And Now for the Second Commercial Break."
The symposium is the largest multi-breed racing and gaming conference in the world, annually attracting 1,000 industry leaders representing Thoroughbred, Standardbred, Quarter Horse, Greyhound, and gaming interests from the United States as well as Asia, South and Central America, Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
