"We are thrilled at establishing a world record gross in the first 10 days of this year's sale," said Geoffrey Russell, Keeneland's director of sales.

Average price for the sale is up 5.4% to $148,292, compared to $140,639 reported last year. The median price of $70,000 jumped 16.7% over $60,000 in 2005. So far, 2,601 horses have been sold compared to 2,640 last year.

During Thursday's session, Keeneland sold 285 horses for gross receipts of $8,523,300, up 5.6% over last year when 287 horses brought $8,067,800. Average rose 6.4% to $29,906 compared to $28,111 in 2005. The median price of $20,000 remained unchanged from 2005.

DRRS Racing bought the yearling that broke the sales record for $57,000, a Salt Lake filly out of the Fight Over mare Fighting Forty. Agent Taylor Made Sales Agency consigned her.

A filly by Pulpit   out of the Meadowlake mare Audrey Paulina brought the day's top price of $330,000, paid by Southern Equine Stables. The yearling was consigned by agent Claiborne Farm, agent.
