Unbridled Energy, a multiple graded winner by
Unbridled's Song , has been retired from racing and will enter stud at Pope McLean's Crestwood Farm near Lexington for a fee of $10,000.
Racing for Bill Casner and Kenny Troutt's WinStar, Unbridled Engergy won this year's San Fernando Breeders' Cup Stakes (gr. II) and last year's Marine Stakes (Can-III). A winner as a 2-year-old first time out, he retired with four wins and two placings from eight races and earnings of $282,862.
"He is an outstanding individual who embodies the power and athleticism of the Fappiano line and is from a classic female family tracing to the great foundation mare Pretty Polly," McLean said.
Bred in Kentucky by Dr. Charles S. Giles, Unbridled Energy is a great-grandson of Fappiano and is out of stakes-winning Hold Your Peace mare Ataentsic, who is a full sister to stakes winner Uene and a half-sister to grade II winner Heart of Joy.
WinStar will retain a significant interest in syndicated Unbridled Energy.
