Bally Technologies has signed on with Magna Entertainment Corp. to supply slots and related services to Gulfstream Park, it was announced Monday.

The Hallandale, Fla. track is scheduled to open its slot machine entertainment complex next month. Gulfstream Park is planning a first phase of 500 slot machines, and will add another 1,000 early next year.

Bally, which has been in business since 1932, will also oversee such services as slot accounting, casino management and bonus technology for Gulfstream, according to a company news release. Based in Las Vegas, Bally boasts of 345,000 machines worldwide.

"We conducted a very thorough competitive review of all of the leading systems suppliers and determined that Bally was our preferred vendor," said Gulfstream Park president Paul Micucci. "We're confident that a combination of games and bonusing technology from Bally will attract players and provide visitors to Gulfstream Park an exciting and entertaining gaming experience."

The agreement moves Gulfstream Park a step closer to the reality of slots in a Florida pari-mutuel facility. Residents in neighboring Florida counties of Broward and Miami-Dade were awarded the right to approve slots for local pari-mutuel facilities when an amendment to the state's constitution was approved by a state-wide majority vote in November 2004. Broward County voters later approved slots for four local pari-mutuel facilities, while voters in Miami-Dade County, which includes Calder Race Course, did not.

Bally also owns and operates Rainbow Casino in Vicksburg, Miss.
