Keeneland Consignors Band Together to Get RNAs Sold

Six Kentucky consignors at the Keeneland September sale have banded together in an effort to find homes for any horses they buy back in the first four days of the auction, which begins Monday. They will conduct an event they are calling the "September RNA Showcase" at Big Sink Farm, a division of Three Chimneys Farm, on Sept. 15 and 16, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (EDT).

Many of the consignors have farms located on Old Frankfort Pike outside of Lexington. In addition to Three Chimneys, participating sellers include Airdrie Stud, Darby Dan Farm, and Middlebrook Farm. Blackburn Farm and Brookdale Farm also are involved in the project, which was the brainchild of Three Chimneys president Dan Rosenberg.

"We find very often that, if we miss the reserves, our clients still want to get their horses sold," Rosenberg said. "We don't -- at least we hope we don't -- have enough RNAs to draw people to the farm, so we thought let's get together with some farms that might have the same problem. We called some of our friends and neighbors and discussed it, and they liked the idea."

Sale personnel from the farms will be on hand to show the horses, and refreshments will be served. Any sales made will be handled privately.
