Gold Mover Heads Debutante Field

Edward Evans' undefeated homebred filly Gold Fever will make her next start as the likely favorite in the 100th running of the $100,000-added Debutante Stakes (gr. III) for 2-year-old fillies Saturday at Churchill Downs. The daughter of Gold Fever beat males--including Tremont Stakes (gr. III) winner City Zip and WHAS-11 Stakes winner Unbridled Time--in the Kentucky Breeders' Cup (gr. III) in her last start after winning her debut race at Keeneland in April. The Mark Hennig trainee, just one of the many talented juvenile fillies Evans owns, will be ridden by Craig Perret in the 5 1/2-furlong race.

Padua Stable's Tricky Elaine, the first winner by Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner Grindstone and a half-sister to Eclipse champion Favorite Trick, is among the eight challengers to Gold Fever in the Debutante. Trained by D. Wayne Lukas, Tricky Elaine will be ridden by Pat Day, who guided her to her maiden win at Churchill in June.

The field for the Debutante, with jockeys and weights, will consist of:

1--Nasty Storm, Marlon St. Julien, 115
2--Gold Mover, Craig Perret, 121
3--Growth Stock, Francisco Torres, 112
4--Princess Belle, Shane Sellers, 115
5--Launch A Double, Jon Court, 121
6--Tricky Elaine, 115, Pat Day
7--Millie's Trick, Robby Albarado, 115
8--Montreal's Best, Willie Martinez, 115
9--Political Magic, Tracy Hebert, 112
