Trainer Todd Pletcher, dominating the juvenile stakes ranks as usual at Saratoga Race Course, sends out Dogwood Stables' Cotton Blossoom, the likely favorite in Sunday's $250,000 Spinaway (gr. I).

Pletcher's "Toddlers" have won the Schuylerville (gr. III), Sanford (gr. II), and Adirondack Breeders' Cup (gr. II) for 2-year olds at Saratoga this summer.

Cotton Blossom would have a leg up on the Eclipse competition if she were to win the seven-furlong Spinaway, which will be run for the 115th time. Coming off a win on opening day in the Schuylerville under John Velazquez, she is two-for-two lifetime.

Cotton Blossom came from fifth in the Schuylerville, and the filly's tractability is a key to her early season success. Being a daughter of Broken Vow, who was successful at longer distances, Cotton Blossom's best races should be in front of her.

Another filly bred to run long is Pro Pink, trained by Jamie Sanders. Off since running second against colts May 4 in the Kentucky Breeder's Cup (gr. III), the Touch Gold   filly has been training forwardly for her return to the races.

After such a big effort in only her second lifetime start, Sanders and owner Joseph Novogratz mapped out a plan to get the filly to the Breeder's Cup World Thoroughbred Championships at Churchill Downs on Nov. 4.

"She ran such a huge race in Kentucky that we decided our main objective was to get her to the Breeder's Cup," she said. "We felt that getting her two races in the fall would be the best way to go."

Trainer Larry Jones returns to Saratoga with B.A. Man Stable's X Star, a debut winner last month at Delaware Park. Jones has already had major success in New York this year, winning such races as the Prioress (gr. I), the Nassau County Breeder's Cup (gr. II), and the Victory Ride Stakes (gr. III) at Saratoga this summer. X Star gives him one more chance at a Spa stakes win.

"We might be biting off a little more than we can chew (running in the Spinaway)," Jones said. "But she sure acts like she wants to be a good thing, so we will lead her over there and give her a chance to prove it. She is spotting them all experience, but she does have a lot of class."
