Grade I Winner Mongoose Sires First Winner

Grade I winner Mongoose was represented by his first winner when his daughter, Steady Slew, won Aug. 25 at Calder Race Course.

Bred in North Carolina by Nancy Shuford, Steady Slew won by 4 3/4 lengths at five furlongs in 1:01.38 for Rhonda Kaczer and Calascibetta Racing. Steady Slew is the fourth foal and fourth winner from her winning dam, Intowin (by Proper Reality).

Winner of the Donn Handicap (gr. I), Mongoose (Broad Brush--Salty Gal, by Cox's Ridge) stands at John Sykes' Cloverleaf Farms II near Reddick, Fla. His 2006 fee was $2,500.
