Outofthebox, preparing for $250,000 Flamingo Stakes (gr. III), worked five furlongs over a sloppy Gulfstream Park strip Sunday in 1:00 flat, handily. The work was the quickest of two at the distance on the day. Gotham Stakes (gr. III) third-place finisher Voodoo worked three furlongs in :36 2/5 while breezing on a Belmont Park training track listed as "good."
Both Outofthebox and Voodoo have yet to win a stakes race, but the pair have compiled seven combined placings in eight stakes attempts. Bernard Flint-trained Outofthebox has four second-place finishes in five stakes races, including runner-up finishes in the Florida Derby (gr. I) and Fountain of Youth Stakes (gr. I). James Jerkens trainee Voodoo, meanwhile, has racked up the Gotham second and two third-place finishes in three attempts.
Richard, Bertram, and Elaine Klein's Outofthebox (Montbrook--Cricket Box, by Notebook) has won three of eight career starts and earned $372,413. Susan and John Moore's Voodoo (Petionville--Slide Show, by Slewacide) has two wins from five starts and earnings of $98,588.
