Running Stag, a former leading Florida stallion, will stand in 2007 at Turf Express Stud near Collinsville, Texas.
Formerly at Frank Stronach's Adena Springs South near Ocala, Fla., Running Stag will stand for $7,500 as the property of Turf Express and Adena Springs.
"We are very excited to team up with Adena Springs and the Stronach family to bring Running Stag to Texas," said Mark Cornett, president and CEO of Turf Express.
Running Stag was Florida's leading freshman sire in 2004 and was represented by the earners of $1.4 million the following year. This year, his nearly $1.4 million in progeny earnings places him at the top of the Texas sires list. His three 2006 stakes winners include Running Bobcats, who has earned a career total of $313,860.
Running Stag, who initially raced in Europe, won the Brooklyn (gr. II), Massachusetts (gr. II), and Saratoga Breeders' Cup (gr. II) Handicaps and was a group winner in France as well as group I-placed in Hong Kong and stakes-placed in England.
He ran first or second in 18 of 40 starts and earned $1,663,227.
