Scientific Games Corporation has joined Empire Racing's bid to operate New York State's Thoroughbred racetracks at Saratoga, Belmont, and Aqueduct.
Based in New York state, Scientific Games provides pari-mutuel wagering systems and will assist Empire in the company's effort to offer the public a "safe, secure wagering system," according to a release from Empire Racing.
"Empire Racing's mission is to bring the best talent in the world to New York racing. Some of that talent is found outside the state and some of it – like Scientific Games –- is right here in New York," said Empire Racing CEO Jeff Perlee. "We're pleased that our team has been further strengthened by the addition of this great company."
SG offers wagering venue management through Autotote Enterprises – operator of the most successful OTB network in North America. As a leading provider of pari-mutuel technology and services in Europe, SG offers New York racing opportunities to expand distribution of its racing product abroad. In addition to its pari-mutuel business, Scientific Games is a major supplier of Lottery products to the New York State Lottery.
"Empire Racing has assembled an impressive team," said Lorne Weil, Chairman and CEO of Scientific Games. "We share their vision for the future of New York racing, and our cutting-edge technology and emphasis on providing higher entertainment value for customers will help realize that vision."
