Uncle Denny, who went undefeated as a 2-year-old and was a graded stakes winner at three, has been purchased by Larry and Suzanne Bollmann for stallion duty at Tom and Debbie Stull's Tommy Town Thoroughbreds near Santa Ynez, Calif. The 4-year-old son of In Excess
will begin his stallion career for $3,000.
Bred in California by Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Siemon, Uncle Denny won all three starts at two, including the California Breeders' Champion Stakes. In his second start as a 3-year-old, he captured the El Camino Real Derby (gr. III), with subsequent grade I winner Buzzards Bay running third. Uncle Denny finished third in the Crystal Water Handicap on grass in March in what was his final start.
Campaigned by Stan Fulton, Uncle Denny retired with four wins from 10 starts and earnings of $288,981. He is out of the winning His Majesty mare Gift to the World, who is a half-sister to two stakes winners, including graded winner Gourami.
