Across the Board Increases at Louisiana Mixed Sale

Increases were registered across the board Aug. 6 at the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Sales Co.'s annual summer mixed sale. The auction was held at the Blackham Coliseum in Lafayette, La.
The gross, average, and median all showed significant rises from a year ago. There were 158 horses sold for $676,100, an average of $4,279 and a median of $3,050. The gross was up 37.6% from $491,300 last year for 138 horses. The average increased 20.2% ($3,560) and the median jumped 32.6% ($3,050).
The high price this year was $20,500 for a yearling colt by Leestown who is the first foal out of the Personal Flag mare Flag Her On. Consigned by 4M Ranch, agent, the colt was purchased by Roger Smith. Flag Her On won 10 race and earned $220,195.
For $20,000, Valene Farms in Louisiana purchased a yearling filly by Mr. Shawklit out of the Corridor Key mare Classic Corridor. The filly, named Miss Shawklit, is a half-sister to stakes-placed Runaway Classic (by Patriotically). The filly was consigned by Ronald Castille.
