Marchand D'Or showed a sharp turn of foot when easily defeating 16 rivals in the Prix Maurice de Gheest (Fr-I) on Sunday at Deauville.

The 3-year-old gelded son of Marchand de Sable zoomed up the outside rail to take the lead with one-furlong left, and pulled away to win easily by two lengths under jockey Davy Bonilla.

Satri, ridden by Christophe Lemaire, won a tight battle for the place spot, finishing ½-length ahead of Amadeus Wolf.

Marchand D'Or races for his breeder, Mme. J-L Giral, and is trained by former champion jockey Freddie Head. Marchand D'Or is by Marchand de Sable, out of Fedora, by Kenmare. He is inbred 3 x 3 to the leading French sire, Kenmare.
