Sales of a new Kentucky Lottery Breeders' Cup scratch-off ticket are underway all across the state. While the $2 ticket offers more than $1.2 million in prizes of as much as $5000, players have a second chance at winning VIP packages for the 2006 Breeders' Cup World Championships on Nov. 4 at Churchill Downs.
"The phrase 'VIP package' gets thrown around a lot, but I think when people see everything we're giving away they'll realize our winners truly will be treated like royalty during the All-Star game of Thoroughbred racing," said Kentucky Lottery senior vice president of sales and marketing Steve Casebeer.
The National Thoroughbred Racing Association has teamed up with the Kentucky Lottery to provide 10 grand-prize packages for second-chance winners which include:
-Accommodations at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville for two nights;
-Transportation to the track on Breeders' Cup Day;
-Tickets to the Breeders' Cup;
-Tickets to the track (with food vouchers) on Friday, November 3rd;
-Access to an expert handicapper on Breeders' Cup Day;
-A $500 betting voucher;
-$500 in spending money;
-A Breeders' Cup press kit, and;
-An invitation to the Breeders' Cup post-race reception.
"We're very pleased to partner with the Kentucky Lottery on this outstanding game and package of prizes," said Kenneth E. Kirchner, senior vice president of product development for the NTRA/Breeders' Cup.
To be eligible to win one of the prize packages, players must submit a non-winning Breeders' Cup scratch-off ticket. They can either enter via U.S. Mail or through the Kentucky Lottery Web site. Five winners will be chosen from mailed entries, and the other five from Internet entries. Players who submit Internet entries must retain their tickets as proof of purchase and submit the winning ticket within 10 days of notification.
All entries must be received by Sept. 15, and the grand prize drawings will be held Sept. 19.
"The Kentucky Lottery did an outstanding job in preparing tickets that help capture the memories of past Breeders' Cup events in Kentucky and making the instant game fun to play," said Kirchner.
Breeders' Cup tickets began arriving at Kentucky Lottery retailers this week, and are already popular with players. "Collectors are snapping up these tickets, as there are six different ones which each feature a winning horse from a past Breeders' Cup race at Churchill Downs," said Casebeer. Each ticket has two different horse-racing themed games, in addition to a daily-double bonus box which allows players to double the entire prize amount won on the ticket.
