Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) winner Silic and stakes winner Best Minister will stand in 2007 at Dinesh Maniar's Getaway Thoroughbred Farm near Romoland, Calif.
Best Minister, a 6-year-old son of Deputy Minister, was first or second in nine of 20 starts and earned $254,220 as a homebred for Phillips Racing Partnership. He captured the 2003 Sir Barton Stakes over During at Pimlico and ran second in that year's Round Table Stakes at Arlington Park. Best Minister also was runner-up to such major performers as Saint Liam, Roses in May, and Alumni Hall.
Best Minister is out of the winning Halo mare Best of Memories, who is a half-sister to three stakes winners, including grade I winner Memories of Silver and grade II winner Memories, both of whom are stakes producers.
Millionaire Silic, whom Maniar purchased from Pope McLean's Crestwood Farm, won the 1999 Mile over 13 rivals and that year's Shoemaker Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IIT) and Oak Tree Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IIIT) Stakes. The following year, the French-bred runner captured the Shoemaker when it was a grade I event.
Eleven-year-old Silic (Sillery--Balletomane, by Sadler's Wells) has sired 21 winners, including six-figure earner Stolen Identity. He and Best Minister will have their fees announced at a later date.
