Victor Espinoza finished with 60 winners to clinch his second Hollywood Park spring/summer meeting title as the Inglewood track closed its 61-day meet on Sunday.
It was Epinoza's fourth title overall at Hollywood Park. Espinoza, the nation's second-leading money-winning rider with purses of more than $9 million, won his first spring/summer title in 2000.
"I'm excited," he said. "Everybody's great over here, every single one. The whole meet everybody has treated me well, they are all so good to me. I've been fortunate to win some races this year, hopefully I'll finish strong. I feel good. I hope I can continue this down at Del Mar."
Espinoza also was leading stakes jockey at the meeting with 13 wins, including a victory in the Gamely Breeders' Cup (gr. I) aboard Shining Energy. He rode the winners of eight graded stakes, including Dance in the Moon in the $750,000 CashCall Mile (gr. IIIT).
He has ridden 18 graded stakes winners on the year, including four in Grade I races.
Owner Robert D. Bone won his eighth consecutive Southern California meet title as his horses won 16 races at the meeting. Bone has been leading owner in wins at the last three Spring/Summer meetings.
Jeff Mullins, primary trainer for Bone, won his second spring/summer training title by a 29-28 margin over Doug O'Neill. Mullins has won four Hollywood Park titles overall.
