Queen's Plate First Three Return in Prince of Wales

Queen's Plate winner Edenwold is the 5-2 morning line favorite entered for the $500,000 Prince of Wales Stakes, the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown at Fort Erie Sunday.Eight are entered for the 1 3/16-mile event restricted to Canadian-bred horses.Jim and Alice Sapara's Edenwold drew post position 2 for Sunday's race and will be ridden by Emile Ramsammy, who was aboard the son of Southern Halo when he pulled a 16-1 upset in the Queen's Plate at Woodbine June 25. "I think he's the horse to beat," said Ramsammy, following a workout Monday morning. "He's so professional and classy."Trained by Josie Carroll, Edenwold was Canada's champion 2-year-old in 2005.Sterwins, who finished second in the Plate, is the second choice at 3-1. Chris Decarlo takes over as the rider, replacing John Velasquez, who has other commitments. Melnyk Racing Stable owns the Todd Pletcher-trained Sterwins. "We're right on target," said Pletcher from his barn at Belmont. "He ran a huge race in the Plate."Third choice at 4-1 is Stronach Stable's Malakoff, who ran third in the Plate for trainer Brian Lynch. "He's doing very good off the Plate," said Lynch.
