Point Given, who is expected to go off as the heavy favorite in the Apr. 7 Santa Anita Derby, breezed a sharp half in :47 1/5 at Santa Anita Tuesday. The son of Thunder Gulch captured the San Felipe Stakes in his only start this year.
Trainer Bob Baffert had originally scheduled the work for Monday, but decided to push it back a day until he returned from Dubai, where he saddled Captain Steve to win the Dubai World Cup.
Baffert also worked Global Gait, who could run in the Santa Anita Derby or ship out of town for one of the other stakes on April 7 or Apr. 14. The son of Concern sizzled his 5 furlongs in :58 2/5.
Another Santa Anita Derby hopeful to work Tuesday was Scorpion, trained by D. Wayne Lukas, who went his 5 furlongs in :59 4/5.
